Imran Mateen is an Engineer who works in Brisbane City. Being a religious man, Imran recites prayers to himself with the use of prayer beads on the bus each morning. It was assumed that Imran was using the beads to count the number of passengers to plan a terrorist attack. After the report to the National Security Hotline, Imran was followed and investigated by authorities for six months before his name was cleared.
Imam Uzair Akbar is an Imam at the Holland Park mosque in Brisbane. While out shopping one day, Imam Uzair purchased a kitchen knife from a local store, only to find out some time later he had been reported to the National Security Hotline. Buying a kitchen knife, it seems, unearthed the threat he might pose to the community.
